Theia Technologies’ MCR IQ™ Motor Control Board and new MCR IQ™ software application facilitate operation of Theia's motorized varifocal lenses, allowing users to control zoom, focus, P-iris, and optional IR filters. Theia’s motorized lenses are designed for use in high detail imaging tasks such as ANPR in intelligent traffic systems or OCR in inspection applications. The motor control boards include the MCR IQ™ software application which contains a graphical user interface (GUI) and Python module to easily send and receive commands from the board for rapid and convenient evaluation and integration of the lenses. The user doesn’t have to worry about formatting the commands for the board.

The GUI allows the user to easily operate the lens through the MCR IQ control board (see below). The Python module converts motor steps into the specific commands required by the board and sends the commands to the lens. The MCR IQ™ software application is built and tested on Windows but is easily adapted for other operating systems.
The motor control board connects to the host computer via USB, UART, or I2C connection. The byte-string commands are the same regardless of connection method. The Theia MCR IQ Python module assumes a USB connection to a computer with a Windows operating system. The user may change this software to fit their needs.
The purchase of the board now includes access to the software application through a royalty free license and by using the application software (GUI and/or Python code), the user agrees to the terms of Theia’s (standard BSD) license.
Theia’s motorized varifocal lenses and motor control board are designed for integration into vision systems for a variety of machine vision applications and user stepper motors to operate the zoom, focus, iris, and filter of the lens.
There are 3 options for the controller board. -00 versions are USB configuration, -05 versions are UART configurations. I2C configurations are also possible. Choose the correct model based on your lens.

License and Warranty
The board is intended to be used as an evaluation board in industrial and laboratory settings. Any use in a production environment will require the customer (you) to fully evaluate the functionality, lifetime, environmental, and other specifications and to apply and obtain necessary certifications.
The evaluation software is provided as is and without warranty. Any software we publish (source or compiled) that is intended to control the motor controller boards from other hardware (i.e. PC) is given for demonstration purposes only with no usefulness or functionality expected or implied. You are free to use it as you see fit - free of charge according the included BSD license - but by such use you accept full responsibility for any consequences of such use, including but not limited to any financial obligations.
